Accomplishment Research International was founded by Bob Young, a retired Group President from Lockheed. His intent is to reveal how to go beyond limiting assumptions of what’s possible. Bob’s dominant concern is that most people assume they have limitations that are at bottom an illusion.
Bob has a track record of outstanding personal and business success. He graduated last in his class of over 600 from high school yet rose to lead a high technology organization of more than 20,000 people at Lockheed. As a CEO he turned around a shrinking $30 Million company to growing sales over 1000% to more than $325 Million and earnings even more in less than 10 years. He kept the same management team that was present during the decline and did not terminate any employees. He led a corporate team to the unprecedented win of the $15 Billion NASA Space Shuttle Processing Contract and his company to winning a national quality and productivity award among many other successes.
Bob’s strong view is that accelerating change and mounting complexity are overwhelming our traditional ways of thinking and acting and that a transformation is inevitable to cope with the world we now find ourselves in. He sees the emergence of charter schools, the increase in home schooling and the massive and increasing corporate investment in employee training as clear evidence our public education system is falling short of what’s wanted and needed. Even so he is a strong supporter of the view that our education system is doing an excellent job of what it was designed to do. As Bob says, “It’s just not designed to meet the demands we face today”.
Bob is expert at seeing possibilities most others don’t see and an unrelenting advocate for leadership mastery. He expects masterful leaders to inspire others and consistently produce extraordinaryl results. Anything less than delivering on both is not leadership mastery in Bobs’ view. He immediately dismisses that being in charge has anything to do with leadership.
“Leadership mastery can be learned. It’s not a case of somes got it and some don’t” Bob says. “Most people rise to the occasion and may be as surprised as anybody else at just how capable they are”
